Follow in the Footsteps of St Peter & St Paul in Rome on this religious tour

On this tour follow in the footsteps of Sts Peter & Paul in Rome from when they were here and also see objects from their imprisonment until they were eventually executed.  The tour climaxes with the place where the body of St Paul now rests…

St Peter and St Paul are two of the most influential followers of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They both would suffer their death in what was then the Capital of the World, Rome. On our 3 hour tour we will visit some of the primary places where they planted the seeds of evangelization.

The tour begins at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Via Lata where St Paul was held for 2 years under house arrest awaiting his trial as a Roman citizen in Rome. The first Christian place of worship here is from at least the 5th century with more construction having taken place in the 7th and 9th centuries. The Basilica also contains a miraculous 13th century icon of the “Virgin Advocate”.

Then hold your breath as you continue on to the ancient roman Mamertine prison (also known as the Tullianum prison) which incarcerated the most notable enemies of the Roman state, St Peter and St Paul. Experience the moments before the certain death of two men who went from denying and persecuting Christ to dying for Him.

You will then journey on to visit the church of Saint Peter in Chains containing chains that once bound St Peter, brought to Rome by the Christian Empress Eudoxia. Beyond seeing the Chains which once bound Peter in prison in Jerusalem before his miraculous liberation the church also bears the masterful statue of Moses by Michelangelo.

Then boarding the metro you will take a short 5 minute ride to the impressive Papal Major Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls – one of the most beautiful and least visited Basilicas in Rome. This magnificent Basilica is built over the burial site and body of Saint Paul following his execution in the reign of the Roman emperor Nero.

This is a must do tour for all pilgrims and those interested in the apostles and early Christian Rome
